These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of our website [www.silentwritingretreat.com] (the “Site”) and participation in any programs, events, digital offerings, or communications associated with The Silent Writing Retreat (“Retreat,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

1. Retreat Participation & Conduct
By registering for The Silent Writing Retreat, you agree to:
- Respect the privacy, safety, and creative expression of all participants
- Refrain from disruptive behavior, recording sessions, or redistributing private materials
- Follow any onsite guidelines, health protocols, or logistical instructions issued by our team
We reserve the right to remove any participant from the retreat or online sessions without refund if their behavior is deemed harmful, disrespectful, or in violation of these Terms.
2. Intellectual Property
All materials provided during The Silent Writing Retreat—including written content, videos, audio recordings, slides, prompts, and discussions—are the intellectual property of the retreat organizers or guest contributors, including Roda Ahmed and Mara Brock Akil.
You may not reproduce, distribute, record, share, or modify any materials without express written permission.
All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
3. No Confidential Relationship / Submissions
The Retreat is a public-facing creative experience and does not create a confidential or fiduciary relationship between you and the organizers or guest speakers.
If you choose to share creative work, personal stories, or ideas during the retreat or via email or message to our team, you do so with the understanding that:
- We are not obligated to treat such submissions as confidential
- We may be working on, or may in the future work on, content similar to yours
- You waive any claims related to the use of ideas that resemble those you submitted
- Please do not send us any unsolicited creative work that you wish to protect.
4. Payments, Refunds, and Cancellations
Payment
Full payment is required at the time of registration. Payment processing is securely handled by our third-party provider.
Refund Policy
Due to the limited nature of our events and the planning involved, all purchases are non-refundable. However, if you are unable to attend, your ticket may be transferable with our written approval.
We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule the event due to unforeseen circumstances. In such cases, participants will be offered the choice of a refund or credit toward a future offering.
5. Assumption of Risk & Liability Waiver
By attending The Silent Writing Retreat, you acknowledge that participation is voluntary and may involve personal reflection, emotional exploration, and physical presence in an outdoor or indoor venue. You assume all risks associated with participation.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release and hold harmless the retreat organizers, team members, guest speakers (including Roda Ahmed and Mara Brock Akil), and any venue partners from any and all liability for injuries, losses, or damages that may arise from your attendance or use of our services.
